Choosing Walk in Shower Enclosures

Whether you are trying to save space in your bathroom or want to give it an upgrade, walk in shower enclosures can be just the solution you need.  When you have no need for a tub, you can look into walk in showers as an alternative.  They come in many different sizes and shapes, so they are convenient for smaller spaces as well as for oddly shaped rooms.  Although most styles are rectangular or square, you may also find circular or pentagon designs.

Many of these shower enclosures are popular because they are corner designs.  Other designs include freestanding and recessed.  Freestanding designs are unique because they do not need to be installed against a wall.  In fact, you can literally work your bathroom décor around a freestanding shower.  However, if you still prefer to have a shower attached to the wall, the corner design only has a side panel and a door between two adjoining walls.  The recessed design has three walls and a door that acts as an entrance.

If none of these designs appeals to you, you may also have a walk in shower enclosure customized according to your tastes.  However, you will need to consider the costs of these enclosures before you make a decision.  For example, a Dream Line acrylic base glass shower enclosure cost around $1000.  This particular unit is intended to be installed against a wall and has a sleek, contemporary design.  Like many glass structures, the ¼-inch tempered safety glass does not easily crack or break and the doors slide.  It also features anodized aluminum profiles and chrome fixtures as well as an optional fiberglass reinforced acrylic tray.

In addition to glass showers, you can choose among acrylic showers, frameless shower doors, fiberglass showers and sliding door showers, many of which have overlapping features.  You may shop according to price range, but for less than $500, you may only get the shower door.  Most of these doors will fall between the $500 and $2000 price range and this price will depend upon many optional features you may or may not want with your shower.  No matter your choice, you need to look for certain qualities for your walk in enclosure including durability and beauty.  The most important factors as you make your choice may be budget and space, but you should be able to find something to fit both without sacrificing your personal style.
